Playing the Kit
Below are just a few short examples of how I try to get around on "AmbA DextrO."

Drummers and musicians, I hope you notice my ear protection!
I wear protection as I do suffer from Tinnitus.
I am trying to save what little hearing I have left!
Practice practice practice...
Below are some short examples taped during a practice session...nothing special...just some things I was working on...

In the future, I will be recording directly through my mixing consol, a StudioMaster Mixdown Classic (24X8) into Pro Tools (Apple). In turn, these examples will be post processed for better sound. I will be "close micing" the drumset with Audio Technica's Pro35's on the toms, Audio Technica PRO37R on the snare (top & bottom), Audio Technica AT4031's &/or AKG C414B-ULS (older model) for overheads.

I will be video taping from three angles: Overhead, front and by the feet.

I hope to have these videos done in the coming months.
The below video examples were recorded with a single microphone. The Peluso 22 47 SE. www.pelusomicrophonelab.com

The 22 47 SE was placed high and behind "AmbA DextrO." There is no signal processing on these examples...room sound only...future examples will be of a much higher quality as my drums will be recorded using Pro Tools and post production to "sweeten" their sound.

*PLEASE NOTE FOR ALL VIDEOS* Depending on your internet connection, there will be a period during streaming or download when the page may be blank...this is normal.

A couple quick hello's
This video is just a couple of quick hellos to welcome you to my site...! I wanted people to see how fun (And in my mind, how easy) it is to get around on my AmbA DextrO kit!

Since I have had my drums set up this way, which has been about 2 years now, I have found this style of playing to be easy on my back...and I love the hi hats in the center!

Fast "Hurta's"
The "Hurta's" in these videos are very good for right and left side practice. The "Hurta" or Single stroke triplet drag is played on the feet and hands simultaneously. This figure allows me to play both rides and the center hi hat. I am alternating the Hurta with my feet and hands.

A great exercise for me to alternate both feet and hands at the same time.

I was working on this figure at a medium speed and a fast-ish tempo....Really lets me know I have a weaker left side!
Again, this exercise allows me to work on alternating my hands and feet.

The "anacrusis" or before the bar triplet, is a great way to do this.

Left handed playing
I am trying to feel comfortable playing strictly the left side...to do this, I practice simple grooves that start with the left hand and left foot...I am doing this so I can "double" my drumming repitroire...it only seems to make sense to do that on this kind of setup... so far it has done just that.

If I happen to accidentally find myself in the middle of a left side lead, I no longer feel uncomfortable with that... I simply continue on and finish the figure.

This type of playing has opened doors for me I never new existed!
The below videos are more short examples of getting around on this type of setup.
Nothing special, very casual taping environment...

The more I play this kit, the more I know I have found my setup...at least for now...

Hey...I'm a drummer...I am entitled to change my mind...AND my setup!

Here are a couple of examples of playing short solos with a contemporary setup...I did this because PEA Studios was being updated and was in a million pieces.

I got the itch to play, record,video-tape and edit. I love to edit video and audio...and I was experimenting with microphone setups this day...minimal mic setups.

I had also been playing matched grip exclusively for almost 8 months and felt is was time to put it to the test...conclusion? Don't give up my day job...
