Michael started playing drums about the age 15 and got his first "cheap set" at
age 16.
One year later Mike got the chance to get a Rogers 360 drum set. "Big
mistake.......says Mike...I hated it!" Michael took lessons in school and was in a rock band and did well. Later, Mike bought a nice Pearl double bass set and had that until he got married at age 22.
Says Michael: "I sold them for $350.00 when I pretty much had to give
up drums because of the space factor and moving all over Idaho raising a family." Michael goes on to say:
"I always had drums in my heart and at the age of 50 I started up again and bought two
more drum sets.
Michael now owns a beautiful set of DW Pacific birch drums with Sabian and Paiste cymbals
along with Gibraltar hardware. Michael has done a lot of upgrades... most recently a limited
edition Ddrum dominion series maple snare drum!
This is Michael's 5th set of drums and says that by far it is the best set he has ever had!
Buddy Rich, Neal Peart, Steve Gadd and Jo Jo Mayer all inspire Michael to be a better drummer. Mike spends a lot of his time
practicing.
We have heard it through the grapevine that Michael also loves AC/DC!
Rock on, Michael!
Check out this short clip of Michael's playing...this video was shot with a webcam so the images are slow...very slow! But you can still hear the audio just fine...and the Buddy Rich influence! Go, Michael ,GO!!
Michael's new pride and joy is a Ddrum's Dominion Series all-maple shell 7x14 limited edition snare drum!
Dominion's all-maple shell is comprised of lumber from 2 separate continents:
North America and Asia. This unique combination takes the tried-and-true tone of
the drum world's most-preferred timbre, and elevates it to the next level. Every
facet of the 100% maple shell -- from the precision dual-45 degree bearing edges
to the gloss lacquered finish -- is hand-crafted to Ddrum's exacting
specifications for perfect performance. Die-cast hoops are added to the equation
for volume and tuning precision.
This gorgeous snare drum is bound to make all of Mike's drumming friends drool with envy...I know I am...!
Good for you Mike...You deserve this drum! Wack it in good health, my friend!

Michael's Best friends... "Sam" and "Jake"
Sadly, Jake passed away Monday, July 2nd, 2007. Jake was a beautiful friend and companion. He will be sorely missed. Jake's favorite place was the back of Mike's pickup truck. Jake is now in a glorious place.

New additions to the Michael Kingdom!
Just got the word that Sam "the Man" has a new partner in canine life..."Sadie the Lady."
Check these pics out...I say they are keepers...both of em...!
As Michael says:
"We got another Lhasa Apso and her name is Sadie and she and
Sam get along so good. Sadie is very cute and my wife loves the heck out of her. So here is a pic of the little dog and a new one of Sam the
Man......... she is a "little lady" and Sam is "the Man."
Yay Michael! Good for you and good for the doggies...!
Tom "fijjibo" Clark been playing drums for about 2 and a half years at the point this writing.
Tom started playing drums while "hanging around" with some local musicians at a local studio.
Tom had always spent his time tapping away on tables so when it came to drumming, he got got his chops easily. When Tom got his first pair of sticks, he spent all his spare time bashing on a pillow!
Tom's first real drumset was a tiny pearl kit... and as Toms says: "I loved it to bits, and did lots of recordings with it."
Tom has done lots of session work and has been in many bands...
Tom goes on to say: "I feel that maximum exposure to playing with others is key to success. Currently I'm working on a prog project with a very talented Keyboard player and we hope to have a demo out by the end of the summer."
Let us know when that demo is out, Tom...we'll make sure everone knows! Best of luck, MB
Tom's Mapex M birch
Tom is "road ready!"
Tom's Mapex M birch
Tom provides the "specs" on his setup for us... "My drums are Mapex M birch in Transparent Cherry red. The outer ply is maple for aesthetics.
The Bass Drum is a pretty much standard 22x18, tuned real low with just a small pillow inside.
Both heads are Powersroke 3.
The toms run 10x8, 12x9, 13x10, each is tuned wide open with an Single ply heads on top and bottom.
The snare is the stock 14x5, which I love, so I've stuck with it. The top heads are varying double ply's with a medium reso, depending on the session. I tune my snare pretty high.
My cymbals are in the process of being updated, so the hats, crash and ride are planet z, lol. The china is a zbt 18", the mini china a wuhan 12", with the newest addition being a meinl 10".
I like to use Evans heads, protection racket cases, and Vater Power 5A's with stick wrap."
Hailing from Germany, Karl-Friedrich Otto Rolf Degenhardt is better know as Karl. Known as "Drummer Karl" from the drummerworld.com Forum.
This very gifted (and very mature with his playing for his age!) musician, was born in 1991-02-21 in Eisenach, which is in the middle of Germany.
Karl first started to play drums at the age of 2 or 3 by exploring pots and pans. After some time Karl got his first little baby
drumset...and loved these drums! He also began to take piano lessons. Says Karl: "It was great to widen up also my melodic horizon, not just my rhythmic
horizon."
Now 15 and incredibly happy that he has found venues to express his love for Jazz
music...places such as the Drummerworld
forum.
Karl also get much support from drumming friends he knows very well.
Karl loves to make music... especially with his band, "Freigänger." "We love to make music and
it`s everything cool since we founded the band in Autumn of 2005 so I hope
that it will go on with my drumming to death...I live the passion!"

"My brother got the kit (minus Sabian, Istanbul and the maple snare)
around 8 years ago 2nd hand. he never learned to play (chose piano
instead), and i started messing around about 18 months back. the kit is
badge free, but the time it was sold as a pearl kit, i'm really curious
to see if someone recognizes it."
