I didn't want to be too obtrusive in trying to "get the shot." I felt I would be intruding on intimate moments Billy was having with the audience so I did keep my distance from the stage...relying on my little camera's zoom with no tripod...hence the shakiness at times.
Please forgive my amateur attempts.
I hope I captured even a little of the magic that went down at Billy's clinic and at the show in general.
There were many, many drums and tons of drum gear at this show...overwhelming as a matter of fact and it wasn't until the last day, Sunday, that I decided I wanted a wooden snare. I have three metals drums but not a wooden one.
I must have tippy tapped 20 or so drums and had it down to 3...The Ellis Drums Pacific Maple, Stellar Drums (Jody's experimental drum) and the Longo Custom Drums Hard Maple 5 and 5/8th by 14.
It was the Longo snare that spoke to me the clearest...so I brought the lovely, lovely snare home with me.
It is an outstanding addition to my world...I love it. The sound is pure and the sustain is unbelievable. It tunes high without choking, its medium pitch is throaty and rich and when I tune it way low, it maintains its timbre integrity. Like I say...I love this drum.
The show was a success and considered by many to be the best so far...I am very happy I made the trip to be a part of it!
Below are just a few pics of the show...I could have gotten hundreds more but I was so overwhelmed by just looking at the sights I often forgot to snap a picture.
I am looking forward to next year... It was one of the best "drum times" I've ever had...I met so many wonderful people!
